CAS confirms Russia's exclusion of World Cup

The opportunities of the Russian national team on a World Cup participation tend to zero. The Russians remain excluded from the playoffs planned for the end of March for the final round in Qatar due to Ukraine war.

The International Sport Court Cas refused on Friday the objection of Russia against the decision of the World Association FIFA.

The Russian selection would have been against Poland on 24 March. Poland had already announced to play in the play-offs against Russia. Shortly thereafter, the FIFA excluded the Russians.

Already on Tuesday, the Russian football clubs were failed with their urgent application against the exclusion of international competitions before the CAS. The court had rejected the urgent application against the sanctions of the European Football Union (UEFA). The exclusion of clubs from the Europapokal remains.
