The Mac of Mad Lions enjoys the MSI
At yesterday s dramatic conclusion of the League of Legends 2021 World Cup group stage saw the Gen.G the LCK the top group D of the LCK, while MAD Lions finished second of the LEC. Due to a four-way tie, and some incredibly tense games of the day was a massive test for the mental strength and endurance of each team.
For the MAD Lions the mentality of the team was in spite of an early loss to Gen.G at the beginning of the day again unshakable - a property that we LEC Spring Playoffs Finals have seen in 2021 against rogue earlier this year during the reverse sweep. Although there were after the first defeat Gen.G frustrations behind the scenes, says head coach James, Mac MacCormack that the players could consider this successfully against the knowledge that other parts of their game ran well.
The first thing I said to the players [after the first Gen.G game] was, okay, we played well, we played enough not good, but it was close, Mac told The PC player 24 during a scrum interviews. But we have many of our problems from the first week to resolve - we today, playing much much much better. If you play in the remaining games so we will win them all - against Team Liquid and LNG will win for sure, if you play like that. Simply concentrate on what is under your control.
Of course, the hopes of the MAD knockout phase supported at this time on a number of results that have been achieved elsewhere in the group. Fortunately, the victory of Team Liquid on LNG held the LEC team competition of the day in the second game.

According to Mac, this was for the players mentally a great stroke of luck because they did not have to stay too long in the bleak situation. Since a place in the knockout stage was still a real possibility MAD won the return match against Team Liquid before it did the same against LNG.
While TeamLiquid finally retired to Gen.G during tiebreakers, MAD navigated in an absolute thriller of a game of LNG over and left it to the two winning teams to compete for the top runners in the group. Unfortunately for MAD could not overthrow the Korean side.
In second place in his group emerged, MAD has been drawn against DWG KIA - the team that was eliminated in May in the semifinals of the Mid-Season Invitational 2021 in the semifinals and the reigning world champion. As the stage for Europe s top team is ready to compete again against Korea in Iceland, to Mac looking forward to the challenge.
I am very happy to play out against [DWG KIA], said Mac. I think it is really poetic and really cool for the account of, us against them . For Mac is a draw, a chance to show the LCK page how much his team has improved since MSI after he admits that it was a pretty one-sided affair.
Although it [the MSI semifinal] went to five games - I felt definitely that it was rather one-sided, said Mac. It was to gain a Herculean task for us, games against them. But when they were in front, the games were quite quickly. I think in this sense, you could really see the quality of the team.
For Mac personally, it is also an opportunity for him to redeem himself from his own mistakes, he again DWG KIA coach Kim KkOma Jeong-gyun - the first solemn recipients of Macs now famous talented bonds.
I think I have brought a lot of confusion in the draft of Game 5 [at MSI], said Mac. I think we could have won really hard to draft in the fifth game, if I had been more willing to stay with the courage of my convictions. That s why I m looking forward to show it.
When he was asked if he had a message for KkOma, Mac held his cards close to his chest. Oh, I was actually going to write him a cheeky letter, he says. During the year we have seen how much respect between the two coaches there - although only one will emerge victorious when the MAD Lions compete against DWG KIA on 24 October.
